Are you worried about sending your little one back to crowded school?
Are you concerned about ever increasing school fees?
Are you willing to educate your little one at home but don't feel fully equipped?
Do you wish you could afford international school for your child?
Do you need a solution?
With a total paradigm shift in teaching and learning culture, homeschooling is the recent norm. The best solution so far is to enable uninterrupted learning for children in the safety of home. Homeschooling is not new across the world. Many young parents have opted for homeschooling for many good reasons. Some very broad categories that make homeschooling a very good option for parents and children are-
1. Bullying - When we were growing up, there was a constant fear of being bullied at all ages. From kindergarten to college there was no respite from being bullied by some unloved souls. Children upon entering school find this as a major challenge for their young minds and hearts. Many children show symptoms of withdrawal, violence, playing the role of the bully at home, hurting themselves, showing lack of interest in studies and many more. A parent who reads these signs will choose homeschooling as the best resort. Though interacting with children of same age is good but the damage done by bullying is way greater than the good. There are many ways to increase socializing among homeschooled children, but not at the cost of their self-respect and confidence.
2. Economic gap - Any kindergartener will easily tell how rich his friend is and how fancy his/her toys are compared to himself/herself. No one needs to tell a child about social status and financial prosperity. They see and sense it. I am sure many parents will agree when I talk about the pressure for exceeding expectations during birthday celebrations. Number of guests, fancy foods, type and shape of cake, games and even the kind of chocolates to be shared at school are some of the many things parents have to balance while planning the celebration. How did the child get such ideas? Not that parents don't get the ball rolling when they start comparing among each other, yet child also gets highly influenced when it sees that birthday celebrations are like competition. A school bag...mind you, just a school bag is a status symbol among school-goers.
3. Travel time - Well this area has two fold concerns. One is the long travel time from home to school and school to home due to excessive traffic. And the second is the unmonitored things children end up learning, watching and hearing in the school vans. The unverified van drivers also have caused serious safety concerns among parents in past few years. With homeschooling all that time can be constructively utilized.
4. Faith Constraints - There is rising intolerance in terms of faith. People are divided and prejudiced when it comes to religion. They sure have good reasons for that. Even I had difficulty getting exemption from management for my child from prostrating before gods whom we didn't worship. There are many young couples who wish to raise a pure-family faith-wise. In such cases homeschooling is the best resort.
5. Increasing fee - I know of couples who started saving for children's admission fee even before they were born! The huge amount that parents have to shell out to get seat in a good school for their children is a great deal. It is a major burden on families where there is only one earning member. This also is one of the reasons why young couples don't want more than one child. I have heard some of my friends say that one salary goes fully in paying the school fees only. Which means that the mothers of the house have no way to stay home and take care of their children and family. Whether their health allows or not, holding on to jobs is the only option. Homeschooling eases this burden great deal. Couples with large families choose to homeschool their kids and save up the money for higher education or health etc.
6. COVID 19 - Adding to the list of reasons for homeschooling, COVID 19 is the latest and most real. We do not see the situation relaxing in the near future. This raises the concern regarding learning and education of our children. Conventional schools are still learning and adapting to the situation. Given the danger and severity of the situation, we parents will never take a chance with the life of our little ones.
Then what option do we have?
